Welcome to Mystical Stone

A sanctuary born from resilience, transformation, and the timeless teachings of yoga

Our beautiful studio closed down while the world was undergoing a dramatic shift. During widespread change and isolation, Melyssa found solace in retreat, stepping away from the community we had built together.

In the quiet, Melyssa turned to yoga, recording over 100 classes that are now the heart of this website. These sessions are a testament to our collective strength and the personal journey of rediscovery; they represent a new beginning, a chance to heal and grow through what once brought us together–yoga.

This website is more than just a collection of yoga sessions; it's a tribute to the inner power awakened amidst life's hurdles, the beauty of reconnection, and the unbreakable bonds forged through shared practice. This offering here is a resource for anyone wishing to reconnect with their practice or start anew from the safety and comfort of home.

We invite you to explore these classes and find peace and strength within yourself. In this space, we celebrate our ability to overcome, connect, and thrive through yoga.

Welcome back to your practice. Welcome home.

Strong and Flexible Hips

Hatha Yoga Class

The Hatha Yoga Strong and Flexible Hips Class focuses on hip flexibility, assuring that said flexibility is supported by strength and appropriate postural alignment. When your hips are balanced, most physical activities become more accessible. It is common to think that having flexible hips is the best; however, when flexibility isn't matched with strength and a neutral pelvic posture, the result can be instability and a greater likelihood of injury. This class integrates exercises that build up the muscles around the hips, promoting stability and adequate range of motion to support hip functionality. This dual focus facilitates ease in daily movements, supports overall body alignment, and contributes to a sturdy foundation, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

Props (Optional)

- A scarf or yoga strap

- A blanket

- A pillow or a yoga bolster

Benefits include improved range of motion, decreased discomfort in the lower back and knees, enhanced stability and balance, which are essential for preventing falls, improved posture, better athletic performance, and relief from stress through mindful practices.

Contraindications

- Individuals recovering from hip surgery or significant hip injuries should consult their healthcare provider before initiating physical activity.

- Those with severe arthritis in the hips may need to modify specific exercises and should seek advice from a professional.

- Pregnant individuals might require adaptations to some exercises to ensure safety for both the mother and the baby.

- People dealing with conditions like fibromyalgia or other chronic pain syndromes may need to listen -more attentively than usual-to their bodies and adjust their exercise routines accordingly.

- Starting very gently is advised for individuals with extreme stiffness or severe mobility issues, gradually progressing to more challenging practices as their condition improves.

It's essential for anyone considering these classes to consult with a healthcare provider to confirm they are suitable for their specific health situation.

Yes, having flexible hips is excellent, but what is even better? Having balanced hips.
